Postdoctoral Associate Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biophysics The laboratory is looking for a very motivated scientist to further develop and apply the method Rosetta for the modeling and design of membrane receptors and their interactions with ligands or protein partners. The long-term research goal of the laboratory is to understand how receptors faithfully transmit signals across biological membranes. We address these questions using a combination of molecular modeling, bioinformatics and experimental approaches to model, design and reprogram receptor/ligand interaction networks. We aim at deconstructing the complex function and at quantitatively describing the basic principles underlying these networks to ultimately reengineer signaling pathways. Specifically, the successful candidate will participate in the development of Rosetta and use complementary modeling/simulation techniques and apply these computational tools to model and engineer receptors with novel functions in collaboration with experimentalists in the lab. The laboratory is affiliated to the Departments of Pharmacology and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The laboratory shares a large CPU cluster facility with the National Center of Molecular Imaging, has a large allocation on supercomputers and has fully equipped dry and wet lab spaces. The ideal candidate will have a doctorate and a strong background in computational biophysics or chemistry, strong programming skills preferentially in C++ with experience in computational method development. Candidates who have good knowledge in protein or ligand docking, protein or drug design, molecular dynamic simulations, normal mode or free energy calculations are particularly welcome to apply.
