Director FinanceThe Director of Finance for Johns Hopkins Medicine is a dual-reporting position which oversees JHH and JHU financial operations in one or more than one functional area (e.g. JHH functional unit, JHUSOM department, JHM Bayview Department/Division and any other related JHM affiliate). The position will report to the Administrator or equivalent position within the functional area(s), as well as the CFO of JHHS. This position is responsible for all financial aspects within the functional area, and will provide senior management with financial reports and overall financial management necessary for the fiscally prudent operation of each area. The position will be an integral part of the management of the functional area and will ensure development of a strong finance team through the mentoring of key individuals within the department. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to oversight of the following JHH and JHU financial functions within the designated functional area(s): Development and review of the functional area(s)? finance staff. Annual operating and capital budgets. Financial analysis of actual and budgeted performance. Providing monthly accruals and budget variance explanations to General Accounting. Production and maintenance of the monthly financial statements and reports. Revenue reconciliation, billing, and charge entry. Research project administration and accounting (including grant submissions, effort reporting, and cost transfers). Program/product development analysis. Develop and/or monitor compliance with JHH and JHU financial policies and internal controls. Responsible for overseeing the development of financial reporting systems for the assigned department(s) for both JHU and JHH activity. Oversee and perform financial analyses as required to maintain control and address financial issues within the Department. Overseeing the accounting for hospital income and expense ledgers and support of the JHH managers and central administration with hospital budget projections and changes. Oversees the establishment and implementation of systems for forecasting, requesting and managing capital funds within JHH. Coordinate with JHH financial management about the Contribution margin Reports and other central reports. Collaboration with the Chair and the Administrator, for overseeing the production and reconciliation of the annual operating and capital budgets of the Department for JHH and the SOM. Maintain continuous involvement with leadership of the department to ensure that all factors are considered for the annual budget. Coordinate with other departments for financial activity involving the assigned department(s) such as research grants and contracts involving faculty, or Hospital JAA funds from one Functional Unit to the assigned department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Requires a CPA or Master?s degree in appropriate field offset by equivalent experience. Position requires 10 years progressive experience in Business and Finance preferably in an academic medical center. Physician practice management experience desirable. Financial planning experience and an analytical approach to problem solving are essential. Facility with Microsoft Excel and Access application programs required.
