      Business Development AnalystThe Business Development Analyst is responsible for fostering and managing innovative relationships with organizations in the national and international for-profit and non-profit sectors to increase Scripps's commercialization output. The position is responsible for increasing SIO's research funding by stimulating and facilitating new industry-sponsored research initiatives. Establishes strong private sector partnerships to support both existing research initiatives at Scripps and new areas of academic interest. The Business Development Analyst provides an interface between Scripps and the business community.  Represents SIO to senior executives in corporations and executive directors in industry associations. With input from senior leadership, tailor strategies to different sectors of industry, including but not limited to biotechnology, energy, transportation, information technology, natural resource extraction, futures trading, agriculture, tourism and recreation, and fisheries. Interacts with corporate, government, institutional, and scientific officials to promote, plan, organize, and coordinate high level visits of SIO Director with CEO's and industry leaders. Coordinates preparation and execution of relevant cooperative agreements with counterpart institutions and companies worldwide. Manages the day-to day activities of Scripps? Venture Working Group ? a small task force of campus and community partners whose goal is to increase commercialization of IP at Scripps. With the DII, coordinate Scripps? collaboration with the Jacobs School of Engineering and Rady School of Management ? both at UCSD.   - Incumbent must be able to work up to 100%.   QUALIFICATIONS   -  Graduation from college with a major in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Educational Administration, Political Science, or an allied field, and four years experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  -  Knowledge, experience and understanding of bridging academic and corporate needs and priorities. Experience leveraging academic research in the private sector for profit.  -  Previous success at communicating scientific results to key business stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in marketing and program planning. Understanding and experience with intellectual property in an educational setting.  -  Experience in leading administrative, technical and research personnel, with skills sufficient to build teams and operate in an environment with complex and indirect reporting structures.  -  An understanding of the scientific method and basic experience with peer reviewed research.
