Open Rank - Professor Commerce (Accounting) Posting Summary: The Accounting Area at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for a part-time adjunct position beginning in January 2013, and/or a full-time tenure track position beginning August 2012 in the Introductory Financial Accounting area. The strongest candidates will have expertise in contemporary research practices and topics, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching financial, accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The position(s) is/are open to all ranks. Candidates must have an established record of strong teaching. The positions are open to all ranks, including distinguished professor. For a tenure track position, applicants must have a Ph.D. and must possess practical business experience, and have demonstrated a strong record in research and teaching. Particular consideration will be given to scholars whose research has potential synergies with current McIntire faculty. Currently, the McIntire School of Commerce (http://www.commerce.virginia.edu) awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in Accounting, and a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology, and Master of Science in Commerce. McIntire is recognized for excellence and innovation in undergraduate and graduate business education and scholarship. In 2011 annual ranking of undergraduate business programs, Business Week magazine again ranked the McIntire School of Commerce second in the nation. McIntire serves over 650 undergraduates and 300 graduate students. Undergraduate students enter the McIntire School in their third year at the University and concentrate in at least one of six fields: accounting, finance, information technology, international business, management and/or marketing. The major professional services firms (e.g., accounting, consulting, and investment banks) and Fortune 500 corporations actively recruit McIntire graduates.
