BUSINESS INSTRUCTOR SADDLEBACK COLLEGE BUSINESS INSTRUCTOR Full-Time Tenure Track  JOB OPENING ID #2089/3943 CLOSING DATE: MAY 8, 2012  PLEASE NOTE: In order to be considered for this opening, you must apply through the District website at https://jobs.socccd.edu   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria: • Master’s degree or higher in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education from an accredited college or university; OR • Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree or higher in economics, personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university; OR • Bachelor’s degree in economics with a business emphasis AND Master’s degree or higher in personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university; OR • A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 through 3 above (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit the Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination form in addition to all other required materials); OR • Valid California Community College Instructor credential, appropriate to the subject, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990).  EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • A minimum of two (2) years full-time (or part-time equivalent) recent and successful teaching experience in the field of international business at the community college and/or university level, a significant portion of which is face-to-face instruction but that includes use of current instructional technologies for distance teaching. • Possess demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach and manage courses in business and international business effectively using various forms of computer technology in and outside the classroom. • Install, use and maintain electronic instructional course software “shells” such as Blackboard, Web C.T., Moodle, or the equivalent with or without Publisher provided course “cartridges.” • Hold advanced computer skills, literacy and familiarity combined with experience in online, Internet and web-based course delivery systems in order to offer curriculum and instruction. • Familiarity in development and maintaining appropriate lower-division courses in business. • Experience in student learning outcomes development and assessment, program review, and/or academic governance. • Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.  DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of professional expertise on the basis of: • Possess demonstrated skills as a facilitator of the learning process. • Possess demonstrated understanding and experience with current and emerging instructional and educational delivery technologies. • Possess a demonstrated strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence. • Possess a demonstrated understanding of and experience with different instructional modalities to accommodate different student learning styles. • Possess strong interpersonal skills. • Have experience in curriculum development and online delivery. • Have experience team teaching. • Have a strong background in the world of international business. • Have a strong interest in building new programs and courses to meet the changing needs of employers and changing realities of the international business world, including changing technologies, area of emphasis (such as economic development or sustainability), and scope of communications. • An earned MBA or Ed.D. or Ph.D. in business or business education. • Completion of significant coursework from an accredited institution in teaching and learning.  SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Advance student learning through effective, dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines for the various courses in the business department. Integrate computer technology to offer effective instruction in the face-to-face classroom as well as through distance delivery and mixed modes. Assess and report student learning outcomes. Participate in the development and revision of courses and curriculum, and participate actively in department and college committees and in professional development activities. Develop and maintain communications with representatives of the business community. Participate in additional department and or division activities, such as advisory committee development and discussion or grant-seeking. Maintain current knowledge in business and business education for effective teaching/learning strategies; maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Participate in general faculty functions related to the educational program, in service programs, college governance, and professional development.
