Responsive to societal needs and predictive of cultural trends, Parsons makes the New School mission – to bring positive, innovative change to the world – tangible, usable, and beautiful.  The New School seeks an experienced and dynamic professional to lead the development efforts for Parsons The New School for Design, one of the leading art and design schools in the world. Reporting to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations – and in collaboration with Parsons' Executive Dean and faculty – the Director will design and execute a strategic fundraising plan for the School focused to capitalize on philanthropic support from individuals, foundations and corporations.  The Director will: • Manage a portfolio of 25-50 principal gift prospects • Guide and support the activities of a four-person team. The team consists of two Assistant Directors of Development focusing on individuals and foundations, a Gift Officer, and an administrative team member. • Lead the fundraising effort associated with the annual Parsons Fashion Benefit. • Serve as primary liaison to a 29-member Board of Governors • Collaborate with colleagues in the 45-member University Development and Alumni Relations Office with responsibilities including alumni relations, annual fund, stewardship, research, and special events. • The Director will be an important internal and external voice in promoting philanthropy at Parsons The New School for Design.  This position presents an exceptional opportunity for an experienced fundraising leader to grow a development program for one of the leading design schools in the world.  Requirements:  • Bachelor’s degree • At least seven years of substantial and progressive leadership experience in fundraising at a complex non-profit organization is required • Experience working with a sophisticated donor base is essential. • Evidence of exceptional managerial skills, oral and written communication, interpersonal and team-building skills is required. • A keen interest in art and design education and a successful track record in major gift fundraising are also necessary. • Working knowledge of SCT Banner is preferred.  Preferred Qualifications:  • At least seven years of substantial and progressive leadership experience in fundraising at a major university or academic institution  In addition to a dynamic and progressive work environment, The New School offers a competitive benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts and a tuition waiver.
