Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation Postdoctoral Position in Structural Biology Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral position available immediately in the area of structural biology and signal transduction in the Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology at Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation. We are seeking enthusiastic, well-trained and self-motivated scientists with excellent organizational and communication skills to join a team led by Dr. Nicolas Nassar. The research projects will focus on studying protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions using X-ray crystallography, site-directed mutagenesis, fluorescence spectroscopy and other biophysical and cellular techniques. One project in the lab focuses on understanding the cycling of Ras and other small GTP-binding proteins between the active and inactive forms and finding ways to inhibit their signaling in disease. Another area of research focuses on the Sts family (Sts-1/-2) of phosphatases. These are multidomain proteins that negatively regulate T cell receptor (TCR) signaling and other membrane receptors, including EGFR. We are interested in understanding the mechanism behind dephosphorylation of pTyr-containing proteins and the nature of the Sts substrates. Applicants must have extensive experience in molecular biology, recombinant protein purification, NMR, fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, or related biophysical or biochemical techniques. Experience in studying biochemical and structural aspects of signal transduction would be particularly desirable but other applicants with relevant experience will also be considered.
