  Chief Information OfficerSouth Texas College Job Announcement 2011-4002  Job Title: CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER Department: Technology Resources Reports To: Vice President for Information Services and Planning FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: Commensurate with Education & Experience Starting Date: June 1, 2011 Closing Date: Open until filled. Screening to begin May 23, 2011   SUMMARY  The CIO will partner with college leaders at all levels of the institution and lead a team of I.T. professionals to deliver the most effective information technology services to the students, faculty, and staff. The CIO will direct the planning and implementation of Enterprise IT systems and improve cost effectiveness and service quality while achieving organizational goals related to educational attainment and workforce readiness.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  1. Partner with college leaders at all levels of the institution and lead a team of I.T. professionals to deliver the most effective information technology services to the students, faculty, and staff  2. Evaluate, select and implement new and cost-effective information technologies for the college district. Provide faculty and staff with the proper skill sets for utilizing newly acquired technology.  3. Provide and efficient, durable and effective administrative computing operation for the college.  4. Integrate technology into academic and administrative functions and meet the information technology needs of the College through proper planning, collaboration and partnership with internal and external entities.  5. Secure safe and consistent information processing through IT policies, allocation and use guidelines, standards, best practices, and various mandated compliance measures.  6. Employ and deploy the most skilled and able IT staff.  7. Maintain a high level of quality customer service and customer relations.  8. Provide appropriate reports and summaries to the Vice President.  9. Perform other duties as assigned.  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  Supervises the Technology Resources staff.  QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. At least 8 to 10 years of experience with information systems management or network operations.  2. Demonstrated track record for success in the field of Information Technology.  3. At least three years of progressive management experience.  4. Strong leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills required.  5. Must be resourceful, innovative and able to cope with on-going change.  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  *Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.  *At least 8 years of experience with Information Technology management, planning and design  *At least three years of progressive management experience.   LANGUAGE SKILLS  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common as well as related field technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the college community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
