Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute     Postdoctoral Fellow  Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI) Curing Respiratory Disease  Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate Research Scientist Job #S511  A position is available in the Environmental Respiratory Health Program to study the role of inhaled environmental pollutants on human health. The candidate will have experience in evaluation of biological mechanisms in an area of biological interest. A transitional candidate that is moving from a basic science position and may translate those skills and biological models to the environmental field is desirable. The successful candidate will participate in studies which are part of an EPA Center Grant, as well as support ongoing in vivo and in vitro experimental protocols. Current work in this program includes analyzing in vitro and in vivo responses to inhaled environmental pollutants in the respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, and immune systems using molecular, physiological, and histological approaches. Experience in analysis of transcriptional regulation, cell signaling, physiological assays, cell culture, genomic and/or proteomic techniques, and animal handling is desirable. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, ambitious, and enthusiastic about working in a fully equipped laboratory with access to state-of-the art inhalational exposure systems. The candidate must also be capable of taking initiative, working independently and also in a collaborative setting, as this position will work with research scientists at all levels of training. Position requires a doctoral degree in a scientific field and specialized training as appropriate. Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute seeks to provide a setting and resources for an early-career professional to develop expertise on issues of environmental toxicology, pathophysiology, and biochemistry; postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to write grants and become members of our scientific staff.
